Federal President Horst Köhler visits an U-boat of the German Navy

In the course of his regional visit to the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein the then Federal President Horst Köhler visited on 17 August 2008 also the German Navy at Eckernförde. At the Naval Base he embarked on the Type 212A U-boat U 33 and witnessed an hour long under water operation. Afterwards, the President expressed how much he was impressed by the technical design of the U-boat and the skill of its crew. A picture of the visit is presented at www.bundespraesident.de.
