U 14 = 1 U-boat
The double hull submarine Curie of the French Navy was commissioned in 1913. It sank on 20 December 1914 while attempting to sneak into Pola Naval Base. Following a series of unsuccessful salvage operations the Austro-Hungarian Navy eventually managed to raise the Curie from ground on 31 January 1915. After restoration and repairs the submarine was commissioned by the Austro-Hungarian Navy on 01st of June 1915 as U 14.
